Custom-made: made or designed to fit the needs or requirements of a particular individual.
Customary: The usual, normal, conventional, familiar, routine, accepted, well established and/or regular
At The Canvas Works, we are very familiar with customizing products and catering to our clients’ specific needs. Here are some quick thoughts about bringing your custom projects to fruition.
We have you covered when it comes to boats, patio chairs and enclosures, but what about that off the wall project that has been nagging you and is still on your to do list. We like the challenge. We have fabricated everything from telescope and elevator covers to folding bike bags and children’s museum play structures. We have the resources and knowledge to create products that are not routine or conventional.
If you have a vision for something a little unusual that you want fabricated or covered, we are here to help bring your vision to reality. We can design and fabricate to your specifications, bringing our expertise to the table to ensure we meet your needs.
Here are a couple considerations if you are thinking about a custom job:
Material selection?
Determined by what item you are trying to protect as well as the elements you are protecting it from. We have a host of sample fabrics in our shop and we can help guide you on the best material use.
Will the project require custom installation or hardware?
We are happy to install or consult on projects that require special hardware. The marine industry hardware also works well in your home. There are many ways to attach, mount, install, join or connect your project.
Tailored fitting?
In many cases, we create detailed templates so our final product will fit all your specifications and look sharp. Or we can build covers that are simple in shape and design, which can reduce labor costs.
What will my project cost?
Factors that can affect cost include: Quality and quantity of fabric, design review, travel to the site, sewing labor, fitting and installation. When possible, we are happy to provide an up front cost estimate if given details, measurements and/or photos. You are also welcome to stop by the shop and have a free personal consultation.
Examples of nonconventional projects:
A sleeve for a kayak, a bimini with solar panels, a window washing platform cover, a lap pool cover, a Ping-Pong table shooter cover, a seat for disabled kayakers, a dog harness, a boat hammock, a folding-bike storage bag, a tepee, a dance cosmetic bag, a vinyl phone pouch. You get the idea. We’d love to work with you so send us your next custom project or visit our link for info on custom fabrication.
