Fabric Care
Sunbrella Fabric is the industry standard for many marine, residential and commercial applications. We fabricate many projects like bimini tops, enclosures, boat covers, indoor/outdoor cushions, and privacy screens out of Sunbrella Marine Fabric. It is made from 100% solution-dyed acrylic, which makes it resistant to stains, mildew, fading, UV and water. Keeping your fabric clean will ensure a long-lasting life.
Here are some essential cleaning tips for Sunbrella Marine Fabric:

- Rinse or lightly spray your fabric with water once a week to keep dirt and debris from building up
- Scrub stains or dirt spots with mild soap and water
- For heavier dirt, remove your canvas if possible and wash by hand with a soft bristle scrub brush or in the washing machine. You can use bleach if need be.
- Soak the fabric in the cleaning solution if need be
- Rinse thoroughly and air dry

Cushion Care
Typically our cushions are made from Marine or Upholstery Sunbrella. Taking proper care of your cushions is critical. The build-up of debris and dirt can cause mold and algae to grow on your cushions making them unsightly and unattractive.
To keep your cushions in tip-top shape follow these general rules:
*If possible, store your cushions inside in the winter or keep them fully protected with custom covers. We realize this is not always an option so follow these easy steps.
- Follow the above instructions for general cleaning of cushions made from Marine Sunbrella
- Indoor cushions typically use upholstery Sunbrella. It can be more delicate but can withstand careful washing and spot cleaning.
- Cushion covers can also be treated with 303 Fabric Guard every couple of years. It is the only product recommended by and for Sunbrella and will restore lost water repellency to fabrics without altering fabric color, feel, flammability or breathability.
- If your cushions get saturated with water, take the cover off the filling or foam and let it air dry. If mold or a bad smell has settled into the insert, consider getting new foam or new batting wrap.
- Or, if the inside is in good condition, we can refresh your cushions with new covers.
Window/Eisenglass Care
The Fabric surrounding your windows can typically be treated with a little elbow grease. Mild soap and water with a scrub brush can make a significant dent in dirt and mold. Take care not to scratch the clear vinyl. For a deeper clean, bring your window to us and we will clean and treat it. We can also lubricate old zippers, patch holes and replace hardware.
Tips for cleaning any kind of clear vinyl:
- Rinse thoroughly first to remove any salt deposit.
- Clean by using mild soap and water. Rinse frequently as you wash.
- Dry with a soft cloth or chamois. (Don’t use paper towels)
- Treat your vinyl after it has been cleaned, by applying IMAR Protective Cleaner. This will help preserve and protect the vinyl.
Makralon 40 mil VR semi-rigid polycarbonate: Clean water should be used to regularly rinse off Makralon windows. To clean windows, a mild soap such as Dawn or Palmolive dishwashing liquid can be used. You can also use Imar by Strataglass. Use a soft microfiber cloth or chamois to dry windows. O’Sea and Strataglass 30/40 mil sheet vinyl: Regularly rinse your vinyl windows with clean water to remove saltwater, dust, and dirt. Only use a microfiber cloth or chamois to dry widows. The manufacturer recommends specific cleaners to use on O’Sea and Strataglass vinyl, though a solution of mild dishwashing soap and water is safe to use to clean along with clean water and a microfiber cloth. Whatever kind of clear vinyl you have, NEVER use any kind of product with silicone in it, don’t handle the vinyl or polycarbonate glass with sunscreen on your hands and when storing them, place paper or old sheets in between the panels and lay them flat or stand them up rolled.
